The Old Milk Bar – Local Craft & Eco Hub

We are a not for profit local crafts and eco-hub run entirely by volunteers. Our aim is to provide a friendly and affordable place for artists, crafters and those wanting to help the environment, sell and buy a wide range of gifts, household items and eco refills. In addition we offer a growing range of craft and wellbeing workshops in our cosy work room.

Not long ago our little enterprise wasn’t even a dream…

However one night in August 2023, Lynsey dreamt – a proper during sleep dream – that she had a craft shop in the location of what had been The Milk Bar on Church Street, Chirk.

Luckily Lynsey shared this dream with her crafting colleagues, family and friends, including Neera; which has resulted in what is now fast becoming a real community hub and a draw to tourists too.

Lynsey’s idea of a local craft shop so inspired Neera that she decided to join forces with her in making the dream come true! Her only caveat was that they also had an eco hub – providing household and toiletry refills – something she was strugg;ing to find locally. And so ‘The Old Milk Bar’ was born….

Simple pricing and really nice friendly service. They sell other nice bits and pieces too, I got some locally made shower steamers with neroli and mandarin oils which smell gorgeous and they have arts and cute crafty things too and they're reasonably priced which makes a nice change :))

It's a must visit for us whenever we're in the area. It's welcoming, light, beautiful and somehow it manages to be airy and spacious, yet full of all kinds of locally crafted goodies, great for gifts. We've bought beautiful soaps, hand printed cards, paintings and you don't have to spend a lot. There are treasures to suit every pocket. We gave the soaps as a birthday present and they were spot on. If you're ever in Chirk or nearby you really should call in - you'll be very glad you did.  I usually don't have lots of time to spend there when we're visiting friends near Chirk but the peaceful atmosphere and the amazing variety, excellent quality of work, beautiful handmade crafts and some fun, quirky pieces always make looking into the shop worthwhile - an essential part of our stay. The staff are lovely, always helpful and friendly and it's a great resource, not only the unique crafts, original art and responsibly sourced gift wrap, also the eco hub refill station. What Lynsey, Neera and the team are doing for artists and craftspeople and homemakers and gift givers is a lovely thing and the people of Chirk must be proud to have an enterprise like this in the heart of the community.

I am not one for Crafty Tat and overpriced things; So this place is Worth spending a few minutes to Visit as it has some unique and interesting things! The Owner is lovely so have a look.
